A more global platform for young S'pore, M'sian choreographers
A DANCE collaboration with Japanese and Korean artists will be instrumental in raising the profile of young Singapore and Malaysian choreographers, believes Kuik Swee Boon, founder and artistic director of T.H.E Dance Company and the Contact Contemporary Dance Festival.
Into its fourth year now, Contact features two international dance collaborative residencies for the first time. This year also, the dance festival will travel to Malaysia.
The two residencies in Singapore and Malaysia will help the young choreographers get on to a more international platform and give them better exposure, believes Mr Kuik. "These young artists have talent, but don't have the network and platform and opportunities," he notes.
