As more leases expire, prices of Singapore’s surviving social and golf clubs hold firm
LEASE expiry. The two words that hang over the future of social and golf clubs in Singapore like the Sword of Damocles.
Eventually, this phenomenon will lead to the closures of more of these clubs in a land-scarce country where the vast sites can be redeveloped into housing and other projects.
On the heels of the recent announcement that the Marina Bay Golf Course, a popular public course, would close in June next year, this week brought the unsurprising news that Raffles Town Club (RTC), a social club, would follow suit in 2026.
