Moschino names Davide Renne as new creative director
ITALIAN luxury label Moschino has named a new creative director: Davide Renne, a Tuscan-born designer with two decades of experience designing women’s collections at Gucci.
The appointment, announced on Monday (Oct 16), comes seven months after the departure of American designer Jeremy Scott, the pop-art bad boy of fashion, famed for his bold, colourful and witty collections.
Renne, who rose to become head designer of womenswear during his time at Gucci, will oversee women’s and men’s collections and accessories for Moschino, parent company Aeffe said. He will be the fourth lead designer at Moschino, which was founded in 1983.
The 46-year-old will take up the role from Nov 1, and will report to Massimo Ferretti, executive chairman of Aeffe. His debut collection will be for the Autumn/Winter 2024/2025 season, presented at Milan Fashion Week in February 2024.
“We are confident that (Renne) will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Moschino,” Ferretti said.
Aeffe also owns the Alberta Ferretti, Philosophy by Lorenzo Serafini and Pollini brands. Feretti had said in September that 2023 would be a “transitional year” for the group, with Moschino seeking a new development path.

In a statement, Renne noted that Franco Moschino, the Italian designer who founded the brand in Milan, used to call his design studio “la sala giochi – the playroom”.
“This resonates deeply with me,” he said. “What fashion, Italian fashion especially, and the house of Moschino most of all, can achieve with its enormous power should be accomplished with a sense of play, of joy.
