IT is often said that the customer is king, but at Performance Motors, it seems the customer is also king of the road. The authorised distributor of BMW regularly conducts so-called customer engagement activities, which are not sedate gatherings with tea and some munchies, but instead involve hardcore driving.
The most recent event was held this month at the new KF1 Karting Circuit in Mandai. Up to 40 BMW owners from its Performance Motorsports Circle club were invited to pit their driving skills against one another over three high-speed evenings. The participants - mainly coupe, convertible and roadster owners - were charged S$250 each with the fee including dinner, trophies and other prizes.
Members of the Performance Motorsports Circle already enjoy a dedicated lounge at the BMW showroom building that houses a S$400,000 driving simulator.
