SG50 is also SA30 for Stuttgart Auto

THE year 2015 may be SG50 but it also happens to be SA30. This year, Stuttgart Auto celebrates its 30th anniversary as the authorised Porsche distributor. To commemorate the occasion, Stuttgart Auto showcased the German sports car manufacturer's heritage in Singapore on Friday in a sprawling exhibition at the Suntec Convention Centre called the Porsche Circuit.

Spread over two halls and taking up 7,780 square metres, the area was split into numerous sections featuring all things Porsche. There was the Heritage Wall of Porsche cars focusing on both Porsche's and Stuttgart Auto's accomplishments over three decades, as well as a motorsport area with the mock-up of a 2014 Porsche 919 Hybrid and a 1998 GT1 Le Mans.

Four new Porsche models were launched, including the 911 Turbo S SG50 custom-built for Singapore, and the Cayenne SG50 Exclusive Edition for Singapore. There was even a bike track with Porsche bicycles but those who wanted to get behind the wheel were able to take test drives on the roads around Suntec City.

With an eye on charity and social responsibility, Stuttgart Auto gave 50 children from SportCares a ride in 50 Porsche 911 cars through Singapore starting from Suntec. But the highlight of the Porsche Circuit was the gala dinner held on Thursday evening, where Eurokars executive chairman Karsono Kwee made a donation to SportCares with funds from an eBay auction of the 919 Hybrid.

Stuttgart Auto is part of the Eurokars group of companies and the dinner was attended by guests including Minister in the Prime Minister's Office S Iswaran, Porsche AG executives and Le Mans race driver Earl Bamber.
