AS a prefix, "ultra" has been used in the automotive context to define extreme luxury, as in ultra-luxury. But as a suffix, it is being used by Audi to denote maximum efficiency. This is because "ultra", in the German premium carmaker's lexicon, represents the most efficient engine in the range.

So in the case of the Audi A6 1.8 TFSI ultra S tronic, this A6 with a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol unit represents the most efficient engine in the TFSI range.

The A6 is a mid-size luxury sedan with other engine options such as 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0, and this particular variant weighs in at 1,570 kg.
