X change
The BMW X1 has undergone dramatic changes to its styling and platform.
THE gawky styling is gone but that is not the biggest change to the new BMW X1. The second generation of this compact crossover is now a completely new car with a totally different architecture.
Where once it was either rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive - that is, with an RWD/AWD platform - it now has a front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive - FWD/AWD - architecture.
The name on the badge gives an indication of whether it's the front wheels which are being powered or all four. So for the BMW X1 sDrive20i, the "sDrive" denotes FWD. On the other hand, an X1 xDrive20i would be AWD.
