Big Screen Design
Asia's first film festival on design and its subcultures, Design Film Festival, is back in its eighth edition. This time, some of the films tackle issues such as the evolving relationship between humans and technology. Autonomy: The Drive for Self, Control, sees author Malcolm Gladwell and director Alex Horwitz look at the future of driving and how self-driving cars are likely to shape it, as well as society as we know it. In Hi, AI, follow Chuck from America and Grandma Sakura from Tokyo as they engage with their new family members - robots. Other films include documentaries about British bands New Order and Suede, and War of Art - about a group of Western contemporary artists who collaborate with their North Korean counterparts in the country's first international arts symposium.
A Design Film Festival 2019 will be held for over two weekends at the Capitol Theatre from Oct 12. Tickets at S$15 each, are available from designfilmfestival.com.
