IF YOU'VE EVER dreamt of attending the Cannes Film Festival - a pipe dream as any since tickets are notoriously hard to secure - then this week may be the week when your dream comes virtually true. Cannes Film Festival, which is cancelled this year, has partnered with YouTube to showcase topnotch international films in We Are One: A Global Film Festival from May 29 to June 7.

And Cannes isn't the only festival involved. The free programming of films, shorts, documentaries and conversations will also be curated by other equally prestigious film festivals from Berlin to Venice, and more.

The 10-day festival is unprecedented, as are so many things these days. But it surely gives comfort to the millions of cinephiles who miss the communal act of watching arthouse movies in a large darkened room with other like-minded individuals. The fact that all these festivals curate films from every part of the world also means audiences across borders can be inspired and united by a diverse selection of stories.
