Battle Of The Sexes deals predictably - but not sensationally - with women lobbers-turned-libbers.
TENNIS legend Billie Jean King was in her prime and playing for much more than a US$100,000 winner-take-all prize when she faced off against former Grand Slam champion and full-time male chauvinist Bobby Riggs in 1973.
King was a leading figure in the campaign for women's rights and equal prize money at a time when women were considered mere afterthoughts to their male counterparts on the pro tennis tour.
Battle Of The Sexes is a dramatic retelling of a publicity stunt that led to a paradigm shift in the sport, helping to change the perception that - in the words of tennis promoter Jack Kramer - "the men are more exciting to watch".
