Return Of Eve
The classic Hollywood film All About Eve swept the Oscars back in 1951, winning Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay, among other awards. The story centres on an aspiring young actress who worms her way into the life of an ageing Broadway star to quickly gain fame and recognition. Earlier this year, one of theatre's hottest directors, Ivo van Hove, turned it into a stage play starring Gillian Anderson (The X-Files) and Lily James (2015's Cinderella) in the roles immortalised by Bette Davis and Ann Baxter respectively. The play was filmed and is now set to be screened at the Esplanade Theatre Studio this weekend. Expect fireworks from the two talented actresses.
All About Eve runs at the Esplanade Theatre Studio on Dec 6 and 8. Tickets from Sistic.
