Music, murder & meatpies
Stephen Sondheim's most macabre musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street tells the story of an exiled barber who secretly returns to his town to take revenge on the man responsible for ruining his life. The already dark tale gets even darker when a pie-maker learns about the barber's bloodthirst - and partners him to turn his victim's bodies into delicious meat-pies that become the talk of the town.
Marking the first time Sweeney Todd is being staged in Singapore, this production stars Tony Award-winning stage actress Lea Salonga as the pie-maker and Filipino rocker Jett Pangan as Sweeney Todd. You'll think twice before biting into another meat pie after this.
Sweeney Todd runs at the Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands, from now till Dec 8. Tickets from Sistic.
