A TOTAL of S$15,000 was raised at a netball event last Saturday to help fund the development of AWWA's second special education school.
AWWA is a Singapore-based social service organisation serving over 10,000 disadvantaged people.
The new school, appointed by the Ministry of Education, will provide special education to 300 students - primarily with autism - aged between seven and 18 years old.
At the Deloitte Pesta Sukan 2018 charity netball exhibition match held at Kallang Netball Centre, many prominent personalities from different industries came together for a good cause.
They included NTUC FairPrice chief Seah Kian Peng, Netball Singapore president Jessica Tan, Deloitte South-east Asia and Singapore Philip Yuen, and Sport Singapore CEO Lim Teck Yin. A number of media and entertainment personalities also took part, among them former actress Wong Li Lin, TV host Kelly Latimer, and news presenter Steve Lai.

The teams were captained by Team Singapore netball's vice-captain Charmaine Soh and Kimberly Lim, both of whom are Deloitte employees.
Students of AWWA School watched and supported the match. They also tried their hand at shooting goals and learnt basic netball skills at a clinic conducted by Deloitte's netballers.
