New Bahru, new lifestyle haunt
IF THERE’S one thing that Singaporeans like, it’s something new. And there’s a whole lot of that in the hip destination New Bahru – the latest and biggest project by lifestyle group Lo & Behold.
The former Nan Chiau High School in the River Valley area is being lovingly repurposed into a multi-faceted shopping, retail and dining enclave that celebrates local talents and entrepreneurs. Old classrooms now hold outlets selling everything from granola to plants and kids’ clothes, not to mention myriad F&B concepts, event spaces, a gym and more.
In Friday’s edition of BT Lifestyle, we take a sneak peek at what to expect when New Bahru fully opens in the third quarter of this year, with some tenants already up and running. We talk to some of them – who are also established local brands – about what they are bringing to this brand new creative cluster.
On the design front, expect to see unique architecture and interior concepts that make New Bahru visually exciting as well. We bring you a preview of what to look out for.
In Travel, head to Australia’s Gold Coast, but not for its ubiquitous sun, surf and sand. Instead, chill out in the many luxury spas and bathhouses that have made the region a burgeoning wellness destination.
And in Dining, ex-Sushi Mieda chef Keisuke Ohno strikes out on his own with his eponymous Sushi Oono. We check out the new eatery in Mohamed Sultan Road.
For all this and more, don’t miss Friday’s edition of BT.
