Zip up to the 24th floor of Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, and step into Nami, an elegant Japanese restaurant flooded with natural light. Solo diners can sit at the sushi counter and watch the chefs meticulously carve out sashimi. Or if you are dining in a group, settle into one of the plush seats at the main dining area.

The restaurant draws in a business crowd during lunch, thanks to its affordable set menu at just $35. For dinner, aside from a la carte items, seasonal omakase menus are offered. From now until 3 September, an eight-course Summer Hokkaido Omakase menu ($200 per person) presents pristine ingredients from different prefectures in Japan's northern island.

Like other fine dining Japanese restaurants that procure their ingredients from Tokyo's Tsukiji, Nami also gets its seafood flown in directly from this mega fish market. The produce comes in four times a week on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
