Happy Trespassing
A monthly tour that lets you enter 'forbidden' heritage territory
It's not every day that you can casually wander around the Pasir Panjang 'A' Power Station, the Old Changi Hospital or the former naval base housing in Sembawang. Managed by the Singapore Land Authority (SLA), these buildings are usually off limits to the public.
One way to gain access to these buildings is to join the Discovering Singapore's Best Kept Secret guided tour, which heritage enthusiast Jerome Lim has been working on with SLA. Every month, Mr Lim takes about 30 participants to these buildings, sharing stories about their significance and history.
The naval architect blogs at The Long and Winding Road, writing about places, events, and people that have left an impression on him, often reminiscing about the past.
