Photographer Darren Soh's latest exhibition captures icons of Singapore's past. By Tay Suan Chiang
WHAT DO PEOPLE'S PARK COMPLEX, Golden Mile Complex and Golden Mile Tower have in common? Apart from their distinctive architecture and rather run-down condition, they are in danger of being torn down should they get sold off in en bloc sales.
Darren Soh, an established photographer who is most recognised for his documentation of vernacular architecture, is presenting an exhibition featuring the three buildings, together with six other sites that are slated to disappear or have already vanished from Singapore's landscape.
Fifty images will be shown in the exhibition, including those of Pearl Bank Apartments, Bedok and Buona Vista Swimming Complexes, Queenstown Cinema, Tanglin Halt Estate and Rochor Centre.
