IT’S that time of year, when red packets are given out at festive gatherings and happy recipients look forward to counting their loot. What we may not realise is that the hongbao designs are the results of much behind-the-scenes work. After all, this time-honoured Chinese New Year tradition presents a branding opportunity for corporates, all of which are keen to produce the most sought-after varieties – complete with unique packaging.

In this Friday’s edition of BT Lifestyle, we talk to printers to find out what’s in vogue when it comes to red packet customisation, and why it isn’t enough to just come up with a pretty design.

In Arts, our Singapore Art Week round-up reveals what sold, what didn’t, and what all that says about our art market. Meanwhile, stroke prevention is our focus in Health this week, as we look into the ways this devastating medical condition can be avoided.

And in Dining, The House Chungdam in Duxton Road is the newest Korean BBQ on the block. With a slew of Korean eateries a street away in Tanjong Pagar, we find out how it tackles the competition.

For all this and more, don’t miss Friday’s issue of BT.
