NUS beckons with art project, sketches

FOUR people in an editing room, discussing ways to put together a documentary about an event. That event is a historical one, but instead of dry facts, why couldn't one inject some imagination into the facts to create a possible dramatic story?

"Theatre language can shed light on the politics of creating a story," says Luca Lum, 23, a fourth-year English literature major from the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Artist Charles Lim's project, In Search of Raffles' Light, inspired her as the installation work had basically been curated like a play script as well. The installation exhibition is now showing at NUS Museum, and that gave Ms Lum the idea for her 10-minute script, which she developed during the seven-week NUS Arts Festival's Writing Lab.
