OCBC Bank has appointed Pich Event Management to organise OCBC Cycle 2015, which will be held over the weekend of Aug 29-30, 2015 at the Singapore Sports Hub.
Pich Event Management, a Singapore firm, was chosen from an open tender exercise in July, which drew bids from seven companies. The tender was called after OCBC terminated its agreement with Spectrum Worldwide, which has been organising the event.
OCBC and Spectrum had worked together for six editions of the community cycling event since 2009. This year's edition in April made headlines for the death of a 24-year-old full-time National Serviceman who had been in a crash during the race.
OCBC said OCBC Cycle 2015 will be sanctioned by the Singapore Cycling Federation and supported by Sport Singapore. The bank plans to work with at least 12 companies to create a series of activities for participants in the lead-up to the event.
OCBC and the organisers will also continue to work with The Business Times on the charity component of the event. Participants can sign up for activities such as teaching cycling and bicycle repairs to less-advantaged children and youth, as well as support fund-raising activities for the Singapore Children's Society, Singhealth True Fund, SportCares and the Business Times Budding Artists Fund.
