One last look
Grand old dame, the Raffles Hotel Singapore, is currently undergoing major restoration. Before Phase 2 commences in mid-August on the restoration of some suites, the hotel is conducting a specially curated history tour and exhibition. Titled, A Last Lingering Look at an Icon, guests on the tour can enter the wrought-iron portico and visit a re-creation of the room that writer and Nobel Laureate, Rudyard Kipling, stayed in, in 1889. Phase 3 of the restoration kicks off at the end of 2017, when the hotel shuts completely. A grand reopening is planned for the middle of 2018.
The tours take place from Aug 1 to 12, at 10am, 11.30am, 2pm, 5pm and 7pm daily. Tickets are priced at S$12 per person, including a souvenir. To book, go to goo.gl/DGcnoq.
