"Christmas is firmly on my mind quite early, from around October. I usually start baking Christmas cakes at that time to allow time for the flavour to intensify. From around late October, any time I see something that would make a great Christmas present, I buy it.

As Christmas draws closer, I begin to shop online. I rarely have much free time to roam around the stores, and to be honest, I don't quite like crowds, so shopping from the comfort of my armchair is great for me. A lot of my gifts have been bought while I am at the hair salon. If you shop on American sites, there are some great post-Thanksgiving sales and many of them will ship to Singapore quite reasonably. Like most mothers, I would have to say anything made by my kids are the best Christmas presents. The present of their time and affection beats anything else. Be it a mug they have hand-decorated or a playlist that they have put together for me, anything that they have spent time thinking about beats anything that money can buy.
