Origin+Bloom looks like a casual takeaway cake and sandwich shop in Marina Bay Sands, but the chilled display houses an array of Michelin starworthy treats. New executive pastry chef Antonio Benites held the same position at Joël Robuchon Restaurant in Singapore and Pierre Hermés in Paris before that, so everything from his mousse-jelly mango doppelgänger to the black symphony of salted caramel mousse and brownies make a strong impression. But what we're really partial to are his elegant, ellipticalshaped pound cakes, especially the lemon version with its moist crumb and citrusy flavour accented by confit citrus zest. There's also a selection of breads including baguettes baked every two hours and fancy sandwiches including 'the whole nine yards' - a mega layering of sourdough bread, cheese and myriad deli meats.
