P Ramlee Revisited

Hot young composer Julian Wong has long been a fan of the legendary musician and filmmaker P Ramlee. Wong has now taken several of Ramlee's songs - including the classic tune Azizah - and reimagined it as a suite in three movements with elements of a violin concerto. Wong also dedicates the piece to his late mentor Iskandar Ismail, who died of cancer in 2014.
The piece will be performed by re: mix, an ensemble comprising some of the best local and international chamber musicians working in Singapore, celebrated for their bold blending of Western classical music with different genres of music and art forms. Beside Ramlee's music, re: mix will also perform Max Richter's recomposition of Vivaldi's Four Seasons.
