"MUSIC fans are the same in any market - they're looking for an inexpensive, easy and quick way to access a large catalogue of music. Sadly, many music fans in Singapore turn to piracy as an option. According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, between 45 and 50 per cent of Internet users in Singapore accessed unlicensed sites earlier last year to download files such as music and movies. Globally, 28 per cent of Internet users accessed unauthorised sites on a monthly basis. This proves that piracy is a local and global concern. Music piracy ultimately hurts record sales for the artist.
