Performances that help to start a conversation
THE disabled have it tough in life, being faced with physical or social barriers, harassment and even violence.
Professionals actors from the UK who are learning-disabled and have experienced such situations will be in Singapore to perform as well as engage the audience in a discussion of the topic. "Even in the UK context, it's unusual to have these learning-disabled actors performing about it," says Joyce Lee, resident director of Mind the Gap, a UK theatre company.
There will be a series of short performances and then the audience is invited to discuss and take part in interactive role-playing. "Each scene is like a lego brick as the short scenes are modular. It could be built on, depending on where the audience takes it," Ms Lee explains.
