Playing for time

WHEN IT COMES TO HERMES, nothing gets the adrenaline rushing more than bypassing a waitlist to get your hands on a prized Birkin, or at least a Kelly bag. But while you were waiting for the opportunity, you could have kept track of time with yet another coveted Hermes object - which you may not have even known about.

The Cape Cod Shadow, for instance, is over a quarter century old and is one of the timepieces on show during the 10-day event. But it's not so much a watch show but a playful look at the concept of time and, as its promotional material puts it, how it's ''designed to arouse emotions, open up interludes and create spaces for spontaneity''.
