Four of the greatest American artists from the Modern era - namely Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg and James Rosenquist - revolutionised the art of the print with their radical techniques. This latest exhibition by STPI brings together 37 works from the collection from the Singapore Art Museum Collection to investigate how the four iconoclasts helped fuel the American print revival of the 1950s and 1960s. Titled Handmade Readymades, the show highlights Lichtenstein's eye-catching comic strips (featured here), Rauschenberg's layered photographic images, Rosenquist's cut-out compositions and John's numerical figures, among others.
Handmade Readymades runs from now till Sept 8 at STPI, 41 Robertson Quay. Admission free. Closed on Sundays and public holidays.
