In Praise Of Friendship

Danez Smith is one of the most exciting young poets today. When they (Smith insists on genderneutral pronouns; hence ''they'' and ''their'') gave a spoken word performance at the Singapore Writers Festival last year, several audience members were moved to tears at the rawness of their words and emotions. The African-American poet has now released a new collection of poems titled Homie.
