Range Rover Sport HST: Playing it straight
The Range Rover Sport HST has a silky new engine with half a dozen cylinders. It gives the car a liberal dose of Six appeal.
Singapore
IF YOU want to truly experience the joy of six, it's best to play it straight. In engine terms (what other terms were you thinking of?) that means having all the cylinders in a line, which makes for silky smooth operation and a cultured voice.
Such an engine has just been slipped under the bonnet of the Range Rover Sport, as part of a broader comeback for the in-line six. Downsized four-cylinder engines have become nearly ubiquitous, thanks to ever toughening emissions and fuel efficiency standards, but some cars just cry out for something more exciting under the bonnet.
