AS we grow older, we sometimes forget the playfulness and innocence of childhood, and the curiosity and openness that shaped us, making us the adults we are today. Hong Kong-based artist Johnson Tsang's Inner Child exhibition, which opens on Aug 7 at Scotts Square, seeks to help us recall our younger selves.

The 55-year-old sculptor says: "I believe every adult has an inner child deep inside their heart, and it is the part of us that keeps us curious about every little thing in life, urges us to pursue happiness, and gives us courage to embrace our truest selves. Yet, as we grow up, our inner child hides deeper and deeper within us, and I hope this exhibition helps bring it closer to the surface."

Despite being the first Chinese artist to receive awards for ceramic works in competitions in both Korea and Taiwan, Tsang remains humble. He says: "Being an artist is a privilege because usually we communicate with others using words. Artists have more than one medium to express themselves."
