Remembering Kim Lim
Kim Lim died in 1997, leaving behind a legacy of unique sculpture, print and drawing works. A new retrospective at STPI titled Kim Lim: Sculpting Light sheds light on the relationship and dialogue between her printmaking and sculptural practices.
This show is her first in over 30 years and illuminates how her work with wood, stone and marble shaped her sensitivity towards paper and prints, and vice versa. Her early prints, for instance, involved modulations of blocks and lines that also appeared in her wood sculptures. Throughout her career, Lim maintained a lightness of touch that makes her works distinct and resonant even today.
Kim Lim: Sculpting Light runs from now till March 3 at STPI, 41 Robertson Quay. Closed on Sundays
