Resorts World Sentosa brings early Christmas cheer to 400 children
Singapore
RESORTS World Sentosa (RWS) celebrated Christmas early last Friday with more than 400 under-privileged children at its Universal Studios Sentosa (USS) attraction.
The beneficiaries - from families living in the Tanjong Pagar and Radin Mas constituencies - were among the first in Singapore to experience the largest-ever "snowfall" at the theme park.
They also had the chance to interact with characters from popular shows such as Sesame Street and Madagascar at the launch of the theme park's A Universal Christmas celebrations.
The event was part of the integrated resort's annual aRWSome Wishes corporate social responsibility programme, which was organised this year in partnership with Central Singapore Community Development Council's Festive Cheers programme, Tanjong Pagar GRC and Radin Mas SMC.
Before the event, RWS employees pitched in with money from their own pockets to buy Christmas gifts such as USS merchandise to give to the children. The staff also accompanied the children on the rides at USS.
Sixteen lucky children whose birthdays fall in November were picked to accompany Santa Claus on a sleigh ride through the theme park.
