Sassy girl
Singapore girl Jocelyn Chia left a career in law to become a full-time stand-up comic in New York. She won a number of awards in the category of new or emerging comedian, and has appeared on MTV, Comedy Central and the Howard Stern Channel. Like many Asian comedians in the US, she makes sharp funny observations about the differences between Asian and American cultures - with her Singaporean parents often become reluctant targets. Catch her homecoming gig at comedy club The Merry Lion as she riffs on Tinder-dating, her money woes, and other aspects of her life in New York.
Jocelyn Chia performs at The Merry Lion on Jan 31 and Feb 1. Tickets from Sistic.
