Scaling it down to a tiny artwork
SURE, Michelangelo painted the ceiling of Rome's Sistine Chapel, but would he have been able to create the same breathtaking piece on, say, a watch dial 44mm in diameter?
Here to revitalise the genre of miniature art in a commercial space is specialty mechanical watchmaker Arbutus, which is offering exposure to seven young artists who specialise in this art form.
One of them, 18-year-old Kang Joo Soon, says: "I loved getting the chance to paint miniature works, which I'd never experienced before. It was a really fun style which involved a lot of effort and focus, but it got me to try a new medium, which I think will help me to eventually understand the true nature of art."
