Seagull Gayatri fly high
With an impressive 108 points in the first round, the team finishes three points ahead of Boustead.
AFTER the first round of The Business Times Corporate Golf League 2015, which teed off last Monday on Sentosa Golf Club's Tanjong course, it was the Seagull Gayatri team who emerged with the highest score of the round. An impressive 108 points was enough to see the team finish three points ahead of Team Boustead, and, in addition to bragging rights, they won Sentosa Golf Course Green Fee Vouchers for each player, sponsored by Sentosa Golf Club. In joint third place are Team Citi and Emerio on 103, with Bank of Singapore (OCBC) and Team Cerebos on 101.
Says Seagull Gayatri's Shanmugam: "The Tanjong is a familiar ground for the team members who played the opening game. It's too early to predict the champion team for 2015. The team who do not drop too many points will be the champions. Each team can score a maximum of 120 points and we did 108 and that's a near-perfect score." He adds: "I would say there are stronger players to compete at Raffles Country Club and I dare predict we will maintain our lead after the second round. My prediction for this year is that we will achieve a top three position."
This year's league, which brings together some of Singapore's top business executives and decision makers, has again attracted many of the country's top companies in addition to a number of key sponsors. There are 23 teams taking part in both the competitive and social categories, and sponsors include Presenting Sponsor Audi Singapore, Audemars Piguet, Boustead, Centurion, Cerebos, DHL, Emerio, Lian Beng Group and World Amateur Golfers Championship.
