Sensual Beauty

Embodiment|Sentience is the first exhibition of Teng Nee Cheong since the artist passed on in 2013. Though he was better known for his colourful paintings, his charcoal figure drawings are also compelling, often depicting nudes or semi-nudes in striking, sensual poses. They speak of suppressed desires and hidden inclinations, and are much more intimate than Teng's works typically seen in museum exhibitions and auctions.

These rarely-seen drawings of studio models were created between the 1970s and 2000s in Singapore and abroad. The comprehensive selection has been assembled by The Private Museum through a collaboration with the artist's estate to mark his fifth death anniversary. Though it is not a selling exhibition, enquiries can be made to the estate through the gallery.
