SINGAPORE’S biggest art fair returns in January 2024, but it may not make as big an impact as it did in its mega 2023 debut. Art SG will feature 115 galleries, down from 164, a clear result of economic and geopolitical headwinds, not to mention higher costs of shipping and transportation.

Even so, it’s an event not to be missed as top-notch galleries such as Gagosian, White Cube and Lehmann Maupin will be in attendance, while marquee artists Ai Weiwei, David Hockney, Olafur Eliasson, Tracey Emin and Refik Anadol are set to show their works at the fair. In Friday’s issue of BT Lifestyle, we list the event’s highlights.

Meanwhile, Deepavali may be over, but Indian fashion marches on. We meet Samia Khan, an entrepreneur who wants women to get to know Indian designer fashion, in all its artisanal, unique and contemporary glory.

In Design, we visit the home of an Indonesian-based couple who converted an old apartment in Singapore into an elegant, timber-lined holiday home inspired by the natural beauty of Bandung.

And in Dining, learn a lesson in sustainability at the new FYSH restaurant by Australian chef Josh Niland, where he turns giant yellowfin tuna into gleaming steaks in this fish-inspired steakhouse. For all this and more, get your issue of BT this Friday.
