Singapore's Lions ready to roar loud and proud

HE has only been in the hot seat for a little over seven months but Tatsuma Yoshida, the head coach of the Singapore national football team, has wasted little time in making a positive impact on the sport here.

The Japanese tactician - a midfielder in his playing days who had a short-lived stint with the now-defunct local side Jurong FC - was appointed at the end of May 2019 to fill the post last held by V Sundramoorthy.

Little was known about Yoshida when his name was publicly announced, but Football Association of Singapore (FAS) president Lim Kia Tong said the new coach checked all the boxes as someone who brings the "high-intensity, fast-moving football style" that the FAS and the Lions fans are looking for. He also has plenty of expertise in youth development.
