Singtel Charity Golf 2025 raises record S$1.5 million for children, youth with special needs
The funds will benefit some 1,800 students from six special education schools
[SINGAPORE] Singtel raised a record S$1.5 million at its annual charity golf event on Friday (Aug 29) at The Singapore Island Country Club, with the proceeds going towards the Singtel Touching Lives Fund.
The fund – set up in 2002 – supports six special education schools, benefiting some 1,800 students with special needs every year who are being equipped with the necessary skills to be independent.
Yuen Kuan Moon, Singtel group chief executive, said: “We intend to keep up our support with our pledge of S$10 million over three years from 2025 to 2027 to beneficiary schools as part of our commitment to create sustainable impact and a more inclusive future for all.”
The post-event dinner was an opportunity for some of Singtel’s beneficiaries to showcase what they had learnt. Students from APSN Chaoyang School put up musical performances, while students from APSN Delta Senior School served drinks and several dinner courses.
Edwin Chan, principal of APSN Delta Senior School, added: “Through their rigorous training in the Food and Beverage Service Workforce Skills Qualification programme, these students have gained not just technical skills, but (also) the confidence and life competencies that empower them to excel.”
The telco’s charity golf event has attracted increasing contributions in the last few years, with about S$1.3 million raised in the 2023 edition and S$1.48 million collected in 2024.
Besides this event, Singtel supports beneficiaries via the annual Singtel Carnival, Singapore’s largest event dedicated to children and youth with special needs. The carnival has grown consistently over the years, with the 2024 edition drawing a record turnout of 2,500 students from 23 special education schools.
Meanwhile, the Expressions Through Art initiative under the Singtel Touching Lives Fund showcases artworks from students with special needs through physical art exhibitions. Last year, the telco also collaborated with public transport operator SMRT to display the artworks on six themed trains.
