Soaking in heritage
Refurbished from derelict Grade II-listed buildings, the Gainsborough Bath Spa in UK city Bath provides a total immersion experience, from direct access to healing thermal waters to the city's Roman beginnings and Georgian architecture.
IT isn't every day that the boss of a multinational company entertains you at dinner, but that's exactly what happened at the recent launch party of The Gainsborough Bath Spa - the latest addition to YTL Hotels' growing group of luxury properties.
To celebrate the opening of the newly refurbished hotel in the historic city of Bath, executive director Mark Yeoh crooned a heartfelt rendition of Misty in front of high-profile guests, which included members of the Yeoh family, city officials, YTL board members and even Penang-born shoe designer Jimmy Choo. But perhaps more nerve-racking for Mr Yeoh was the presence of Freddy Cole - brother of the jazz legend Nat King Cole - who had performed earlier with his quartet.
But you don't get ahead in life without rising to the challenge, which also explains YTL's move to take over and turn two derelict Grade II-listed buildings in the UK and turn them into a luxury spa hotel.
