SP Group’s charity golf event raises S$500,000 for low-income seniors
SP Group held its annual charity golf event last Friday (June 17), with S$500,000 raised for seniors from low-income backgrounds who are supported by the SP Heartware Fund.
This year’s event took place at Tanah Merah Country Club’s Tampines Course, with the money raised benefiting some 25,000 vulnerable seniors through various programmes and activities under Community Chest. These include befriending, counselling and coaching, caregiver support and community homes.
Stanley Huang, the group chief executive officer of SP Group, said that despite the uncertain economic climate, the company remains committed to ensuring the programmes for seniors continue so that they receive uninterrupted care and support.
“We are grateful for the support of our business partners and the public who help us sustain these critical programmes to improve quality of life for vulnerable members of our community,” he said in a media release.
Community Chest chairman Phillip Tan said: “Even as Singapore transits into a new phase of living with Covid-19, many groups continue to require our sustained support. We are heartened that SP Group has been our steadfast partner all these years, enabling us to empower and build more resilient communities to overcome any challenges ahead.”
