Strange Love
Can't get enough of Stranger Things whose third season just debuted on Netflix? Then check out Ingrid Michaelson's new album Stranger Songs inspired by the hit sci-fi TV show set in the 1980s. Just as the album cover features the singersongwriter upside down - a reference to show's alternate universe Upside Down - Michaelson connects every single track to the show's plot and characters. Freak Show, for instance, references the first episode in which the boys are called "freaks" by the school bullies. Missing You, the first single, centres on the love triangle between Nancy, Steve and Jonathan. Meanwhile, Christmas Lights alludes to the way Joy communicates with her missing son through the Christmas lights. Frequently evoking the retro synth beats of the '80s, these amiable pop ditties are aimed not just at fans but also the young-at-heart.
Stranger Song is available on iTunes.
