SINGAPORE museums are helping push the five-country nomination for the kebaya to be added to the Unesco Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The National Heritage Board has launched a new travelling exhibition featuring some of the most beautiful examples of kebaya made in different fabrics, colours and silhouettes. The exhibition, titled Love, Kebaya, is now open at the National Museum of Singapore, and will subsequently travel to other central and heartland locations.

In June, the Peranakan Museum will host a kebaya showcase featuring pieces from across the region. From mid-June onwards, the Malay Heritage Centre will also feature kebaya in its roadshow on Malay textiles and other outreach programmes.
