Celebrate spring with novelties from four French jewellery brands
Designers are taking inspiration from flowers and insects to sailing and the flamboyant 70s
[SINGAPORE] Spring – whether you feel it or not – has arrived in the Northern Hemisphere, and is the perfect excuse to introduce fresh novelties and other pretty bling.
Over at Fred, the French jeweller has added to its emblematic Force 10 collection a new chapter called Force 10 Rise. The novelties ride on the sailing-inspired designs of Force 10 – first created almost 60 years ago in 1966 – where sailing cables and buckles in the shape of a marine carabiner are key motifs.
Force 10 Rise plays with these codes – in the form of a braided cable, buckle and a row of pave diamonds – in various permutations. These include stackable rings, a necklace, as well as two pairs of earrings. The latter are available in a half-moon shape or as hoops. For something youthful and fun, there are also ear cuffs (minus the buckle motif), which offer the flexibility of being positioned on different parts of the ear lobe.
The collection is gender neutral and available in pink and white gold.
Where Fred’s novelties are bold and graphical, Dior’s are delicate, sweet and ultra-feminine.
Inspired by founder Christian Dior’s garden at Milly-la-Foret, the Diorette collection celebrates the resplendence of nature with flowers and ladybirds in pastel hues. Victoire de Castellane, creative director of Dior Joaillerie, achieves these light and happy tones using hand-applied lacquer, before adding sparkle with diamonds.

The four new creations this year include a necklace – which also sports a tsavorite in the centre of a flower – a ring and two single earrings in white gold. These are cheerful pieces full of the flavours of spring.
Speaking of the season, one imagines bees buzzing around and foraging for nectar and pollen – the perfect time for another French jeweller, Chaumet, to release new pieces for its iconic Bee de Chaumet collection.
For 2025, its flagship bee and honeycomb motifs crafted in gold and diamonds now come in a dozen new iterations, including a yellow gold necklace and earrings featuring a pave diamond bee with gold tassels. Another pretty piece is a flexible, openwork yellow gold bangle dressed with a diamond-studded bee at each end.
In addition, there are new pieces in white gold that play on the honeycomb cell design, with or without diamonds.
Boucheron, on the other hand, looks back to the 1970s for its Serpent Boheme Vintage novelties that channel the era’s flamboyant spirit. But first, to understand how the collection derived its name – there are no obvious snake motifs in sight – you’ll have to reference the French maison’s archival Serpent Boheme designs.
These mainly featured cabochon gems in a droplet motif that represents the snake’s head, textured goldwork reminiscent of serpentine skin and in 1974, a sautoir yellow gold necklace with a big, bold flower-shaped pendant whose petals are formed with onyx and coral droplets.
This necklace is the ideal piece for creative director Claire Choisne – known for designing super-sized and dramatic jewellery – to borrow elements with which to create the Serpent Boheme Vintage collection. Across 15 designs in yellow or white gold, her take has the links of the original necklace streamlined for a modern look, and the coloured cabochon-cut stones swopped for brilliant-cut diamonds in pear-shaped motifs.
There are three necklaces that most closely resemble the original, with two of them in yellow gold and diamonds. They are convertible to be worn in four different ways – as a shorter necklace, a brooch and a pair of bracelets that also join to form a choker. Meanwhile, the third necklace – a high jewellery piece in white gold – is fully paved with diamonds.
The star of the collection, however, is a large cuff bracelet featuring a diamond-studded floral motif that sits on vintage-feel brushed gold. If that’s not bling enough, there are also huge, matching double finger rings that spread across the hand. But should you wish to dial down the size a little, options include hoop and stud earrings, link bracelets and smaller necklaces.
