[SINGAPORE] Singapore Airlines’ (SIA) new First Class SilverKris Lounge in Changi Airport’s Terminal 2 (T2) opens on Friday (Nov 7), even as the national carrier embarks on building a new and larger lounge in Melbourne Airport.

The T2 lounge is now located in a new section across from where it used to be on level 3, and is flooded in natural light, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows.

The space it previously occupied, as well as a large walkway just outside it, will soon house the renovated Business Class SilverKris Lounge, which will expand by 30 per cent, and the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge, which will double in capacity. Their refurbishment will be completed in early 2027.

The airline announced in April that it was spending S$45 million to upgrade its premium lounges in T2. The revamped facilities will increase seating capacity by about 60 per cent to just over 1,100 in total.

At 1,050 sq m, the new First Class lounge is 11 per cent bigger and can accommodate around 130 customers. It is available to SIA’s Suites and First Class customers, Solitaire PPS Club members and First Class passengers flying on Star Alliance member airlines.

For the new lounge, design consultancy Ong & Ong followed the design language it created for SIA’s lounges in Terminal 3 (T3), which were upgraded in 2022.

Over in Melbourne Airport’s Terminal 2, work will start on the new SilverKris lounge.

“We’ve been able to secure a new space and we’re very excited about it,” says Timothy Chua, SIA’s vice-president of lounge development and in-flight operations. The new two-class lounge for its First and Business Class passengers will be 30 per cent bigger than the current one and be ready by early 2027.
