Diamond fever
Temperatures rose at the recent grand opening of GRAFF's first Singapore store, when founder and chairman Laurence Graff unveiled the diamond store's prize attraction - the Graff Sunflower. Weighing in at 107.46 carats, the fancy yellow diamond delighted the elegantly coiffed guests who were there to meet the man known as a relentless pursuer of the largest and most valuable diamonds in the world.
Mr Graff arrived in Singapore with his son Francois - now the CEO - for a whirlwind visit, which also marked a return to where he got his first break as a young entrepreneur in the 1960s. He was selling diamonds in a department store when in walked the then-crown prince of Brunei and his wife, and the rest is history. Now, the new mall in ION Orchard is set to make its own history as it raises the bar on high jewellery in Singapore.
