Second Coming
Dylan Tan
Before Supreme ruled streetwear culture, there was [Íxi:z]. The Japanese brand, pronounced 'ick-sees', was a must-have for every hypebeast baby-boomer who grew up in the eighties. From classrooms to Centrepoint, [Íxi:z]'s colourful velcro wallets and pencil cases reigned supreme (pun intended) and there was no mistaking its distinctive Louis Vuitton's Epi Leather stripe-inspired design from two McDonald's tables away. Established in 1980, the brand disappeared after the nineties but is now making a comeback in Singapore. A pop-up store selling exclusive merchandise first appeared at this year's edition of Culture Cartel a fortnight ago and that was followed quickly by a standalone boutique opening at Mandarin Gallery last weekend. For this second coming, expect a range of oversized tees - all made in, where else but, Japan.
Find the [Íxi:z] boutique at Mandarin Gallery, #03-25. For more information, check @ixizsg on Instagram.
