Get a pair of leather-free shoes and take a step towards saving other four-legged friends. Black Hammer is the flagship shoe brand of the Franson Group, a home-grown family owned business which has decided to champion animal rights with its line of micro leather footwear made entirely without animal-based materials. For every pair of shoes you purchase, Franson will make a S$0.50 donation to animal welfare group SPCA. To encourage people to adopt needy animals instead of buying them, Franson created a marketing campaign featuring the canine residents of the SPCA. "Instead of using animals from commercial places, we wanted to create a campaign that was raw and emotional," says marketing manager Gladys Hew. Even though the S$0.50 donation isn't much on its own, the company hopes to start a bigger conversation about responsible pet ownership.
