GENEVA SAW ITS biggest watch auction last week, when 50 unique timepieces were sold, raising a record 38.59 million Swiss francs (S$53.25 million) - against CHF9.29 million in 2017 - at the biennial Only Watch charity event presided by Christie's.

Patek Philippe's Grandmaster Chime, the only one ever made in stainless steel, accounted for CHF31 million, which will go towards medical research on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a genetic muscular disease that afflicts one in 3000 male babies.

The duo face grand complication timepiece went under the hammer for the whopping sum that's about 15 times its estimated value of CHF2.0-2.5…
